VIV Asia 2013

VIV Asia 2013

VIV Asia 2013 has been a successful event so far for Perendale Publishers, the International Milling Directory‘s publishing house.

The producers, organisers and staff at VIV Asia have thanked Roger many times for an excellent job chairing CropTech-FeedTech conference yesterday in Bangkok. They want Roger to chair the CropTech-FedTech Russia, India, Latin America and China, said Tuti Tan of Perendale Publishers Ltd.
Tuti continues, “Perendale was mentioned in the opening ceremony too. Gerard from VIV has praised Roger many times. Roger certainly was very happy after the conference. [Plus, participating companies such as] FOSS, Muyang, Wenger and Agentis’ speaker thanked Roger for a good conference”.

New accessory for Perten’s NIR analyser

Transflectance cup for Perten’s DA 7250 NIR spectrometer

Need an easy and accurate chemical analysis for juices, vegetable oils or other liquids? International Milling Directory (IMD) partner Perten Instruments has developed a new accessory enabling exactly that.

Perten’s DA 7250 near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) analyser was specifically designed for use in food and agriculture, discovering the chemical compositions of powders, pellets, liquids, pastes and slurries. Perten’s new Transflectance Cup is designed to minimise the need to handle liquid samples or clean the equipment between uses, and its gold-coated surface improves the quality of spectral transmission from the sample to its sensors.

Perten Instruments has been providing tools for chemical analysis and quality control since 1962. It is an active partner of the global agricultural industry, and, like IMD publisher Perendale Publishers, it will be exhibiting at the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) conference in Louisville, Kentucky on 23-26 February. The International Milling Directory team invites you to stop by and say hello to both stands.

The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo is over for another year. Officialy the last post of the event was yesterday but we wanted to surprise you with another one summing up this important event and also on how the many copies of The International Milling Directory that were taken to the show to be distributed to leading companies and organisation, and about the banner on the Perendale stand extolling the benefits of the IMD in its main digital form. This form is in IMD 24/7 on the PPLAPP (access the IMD web app by clicking on the first icon in the top-left hand corner called

‘Directory’). The app is completely free, just use your touchscreen device and save it as an app to your  device’s menu.

Overall, official press releases from IPPE today describe that it exceeded its expectations with more than 25,000 poultry, meat and feed industry leader attendees from all over the world. In addition, the show had 1,189 exhibitors with more than 430,000 net square feet of exhibit space. Final numbers will be released after the registration database has been audited for duplications. Sponsored by U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, American Feed Industry Association, and the American Meat Institute, IPPE is the world’s largest annual poultry, meat, and feed industry event of its kind.

“We are extremely pleased with the number of exhibitors and attendees on the exhibit floor for IPPE. We have had a great turn-out this year, and the energy and excitement on the floor has been apparent all week,” remarked the three trade associations.

The central attraction was the large exhibit floor. Exhibitors presented the latest innovations in equipment, supplies, and services utilised by industry firms in the production and processing of poultry, eggs, feed products, and meat. Many companies use the annual event to highlight their new products. All phases of the poultry, feed, and meat industry were represented, from live production and process events at IPPE.

Dr Mian Riaz of Texas A&M University, a contributor to both International Aquafeed and Grain &Feed Milling Technology, visited our stand on day two to meet with Roger Gilberting to further processing and packaging.

An expanded education program complemented the exhibits by keeping industry management informed on the latest issues. This year’s educational line-up featured 15 associated conferences at the event, ranging from an antibiotic conference on current issues for the poultry and egg industry to an international feed education program to international regulatory topics for meat.

The College Student Career Program attracted more than 400 students from 26 universities throughout the United States, while the new International Student Career Program brought in 13 students from four countries. The graduating students interviewed for jobs and internships with 93 human resource representatives from 28 industry and allied firms. They were also able to visit the exhibit floor to see the most current technology used in today’s poultry industry.

Other featured events included a Tech XChange programme, the International Poultry Scientific Forum, Meat Me in @LANTA activities, publisher-sponsored conference programmes, and the Pet Food Conference, all of which made the 2013 IPPE the premiere annual feed and protein event of the western hemisphere.

The International Milling Directory now looks ahead to the next relevant event, GEAPS Exchange 2013 which coincidentally is also in the US. It will take place from Sunday 24th to Tuesday 26th February.

Adifo launches BESTMIX® Formulation as a Service
platform

Adifo

Adifo

Nutrition software supplier Adifo has launched a cloud-based
collaborative platform as an extension to BESTMIX®, their profit-driven
feed formulation and recipe management system. The extension platform is
bound to revolutionize the information interchange between nutrition
experts and the outside world to the benefit of all parties involved, including
feed advisors, external partners and customers.
The Formulation as a Service solution – securely implemented in the cloud
– gives users online access to part of a nutrition company’s BESTMIX®
database. Users can retrieve minute-precise market data, rely on up-to-date
equations and use state-of-the-art formulation functionality at any time.
They can also record project or customer-specific data such as purchase
costs and specifications.

Adifo has pioneered a new way of working which will dramatically
improve the collaborative interaction between all parties in the nutrition
company’s value chain.

Account managers and independent consultants will simulate
adaptations to recipes to meet specific customer demands and
evaluate immediately the cost impact of their adaptations.
Internal departments such as marketing, sales and quality
assurance will produce their own data and reports without compromising core data.

External interested parties will be able to sign knowledge
contracts with the nutrition company and take advantage of
nutritional know-how.
Research centres will want to use the system to unlock their
nutritional knowledge to interested parties all over the world.
The formulation department can learn about evolving customer
preferences by analyzing adaptations made by the client.
The Formulation as a Service platform has the additional advantage of
being easy to set up and use. There are no worries for the customer; the
solution even eliminates the need for setting up and maintaining dedicated
laptops for account managers or consultants. What’s more, Adifo backs up
the data and updates the software continuously, leaving the customer care-
free.

This Formulation As A Service platform will be launched and
demonstrated for the first time at the IPPE show: Hall A, booth 3118.
